Neck Pain - is common and can spread to the head, shoulders, upper back, or arms. Neck pain is caused by repeated or prolonged movements that strain the neck’s muscles, ligaments, tendons, bones, or joints. It can also be caused by injury, arthritis, or problems with nerve roots, the spinal cord, or discs. If the pain source is known, a directed treatment program can begin. If the pain is general, blocks or injections can be performed. Possible treatment: Transforaminal Epidural Steroid Injection, Discography, Nucleoplasty, Facet Neurolysis.
Nerve Injury. There are many types of nerve injury, such as neuropathy (common peroneal nerve dysfunction). Spinal or neck injury is to the spinal cord or the nerves that carry messages from the brain. Horner’s syndrome is an injury to the sympathetic nerves of the face, and it includes a constricted pupil. Complex regional pain syndrome is a chronic nerve disorder that occurs often in the arms or legs after injury. Possible treatment: Sympathetic Nerve Block, Peripheral Nerve Block, Spinal Cord Stimulator.
Neuropathic Pain - is result from nerve injury. Abnormal nerve impulses, lacking an appropriate stimulus, lead to the perception of pain. Conditions that can cause nerve damage are cancer, diabetes, inflammation, strokes, radiation, and compression of the spinal cord. Depending on the type of pain, the following are some treatments: stellate ganglion blocks, interscalene brachial plexus, and lumbar sympathetic plexus blocks. Possible treatment: Sympathetic Nerve Block, Peripheral Nerve Block, Spinal Cord Stimulator.
